Q. The reading says that visual media is indeed dominating linguistic media. Do you think linguistic media will completely disappear, or will it take on an entirely new role altogether?
A. I had a similar question, but mine was regarding printed media. With the emergence of internet news and a website for pretty much any information you could ever wish to find printed media seems to be really struggling. While I don't think the future of written media is looking very bright, I do think linguistic media will remain prevalent into the future. Visual media is becoming much more popular than linguistic media on the internet; but linguistic media will continue to have a very large market. Into the future people will continue to demand linguistic audio to listen to while driving their cars and many other activities where you need to focus on what you are doing and can't watch a video.

1. The author talks about how all forms of modern media are just old media remediated. In this day and age is it possible to produce media that is original, not remediated?
2. The author also mentions that text is being remediated aggressively, which makes me think of newspapers and how they are struggling. As technology progresses will it be possible for old forms of media to survive?
3. This piece also reminded me of artists like Girl Talk. Do artists like Girl Talk who incorporate dozens of artists into one track owe something to those artists, or should his work just be accepted as older forms of music being remediated?
